Windsor Knot hits the Spot

Ok, I live in the dark ages. I don’t have a TV. I don’t particularly miss it – its just full of sex and violence anyway, and I get enough of that in real life. Except the sex. One noticeable consequence lately though, is that the whole royal wedding hype has largely passed me by. This is not typical in Blackbird Leys where my lack of a TV is viewed with some suspicion, and where peopple are pretty excitement about the royal wedding. However, the effort involved in organising a street party or some other community activity appeared to have been too much to overcome the general lethergy. There was a vague gesture at bunting outside the Blackbird, and Nash’s bakery made a commemorative bun in the shape on an enormous bun. But apart from that, nothing special happened and most people just stayed in and watched TV. Keen to enter the spirit of things I went round a neighbour’s house to do the same.

So I took a six-pack of Windsor Knot round to Trainspotter’s to watch the wedding and got well into it. The beer that is. It was much hoppier than I was expecting which must be due to the the homegrown hops being more effective than I thought they might be. I was ok with this but it may be a bit “big” for some people’s tastes – a double IPA really.  The carbonation was a little too lively but with the bottling fiasco I had, I don’t expect that to be uniform. All in all, a decent brew which I’ll enjoy sharing this summer. Do drop in if you fancy a bottle.

Oh and, congratulations to the happy couple…
