Royal Wedding Beer

Posted by in Beer

As we head towards spring here in the UK, royal wedding fever will be hotting up along with the weather. Magazines and websites are already packed with speculation about the dress, the food, the guess, the presents, the ceremony…

But here are WWJB, the big question is – what will people be brewing for the Royal Wedding?

Commemorating royal nupitals with a special ale has a long tradition among British brewers. When Charles and Diana wed in 1981, there were 147 Royal beers commercially produced, togther with thousands of varieties by craft brewers. I expect that will be dwarfed by the number of offerings we see this year to commemorate Will and Kate’s wedding on the 29th April.

Not wanting to miss out on the fun, Fendog and myself will also be brewing a commemorative beer for the occassion. Watch this space!
